I really appreciate your voice Natalie and resonate with the need to be loud on this topic. I've watched stories of abuse unfold in way to many ministries in the past few years and often, it seems that the church would rather protect the institution than protect the victims. It's clear this is SGM approach and I know it's been ABWE's approach. When I think of God's beautiful work of redemption, it never involves protecting our own interests but it's saturated in humility and truth.
Thanks again for the reminder and for speaking up!

May I join you in your fantasy? Only thing is I would like to beat the crap out of these evil jerks before I tied a millstone around their necks. I am vacillating between outrage and depression after reading the allegations. I agree with Julie Anne, this is well written, but that is no surprise ( :

I will pray for you today, I am sorry that you were abused, betrayed, not heard, abandoned. I hear you and I believe you. Lord have Mercy, Christ have Mercy.

"But if you cause one of these little ones who trusts in me to fall into sin, it would be better for you to have a large millstone tied around your neck and be drowned in the depths of the sea."

Natalie: This is so well-written and I'll be sure to pass it around. I have written quite a lot on SGM including the entire lawsuit filing yesterday. More can be found looking in the right side bar under "categories." The SGM story is important to me because it was through those personal stories that confirmed what I had experienced was spiritual abuse. The sex abuse cases go even beyond that. It is heart-wrenching.

Hands down for me it's Atonement. I won't spoil it for any who haven't read or seen it (the book is better, of course, I highly recommend it). But there's just so much regret and so much remorse ... though I would say that the ending left me as raw as the beginning. It's a hard one. And I can't really talk about the apology part without spoilers, so suffice it to say that it is deep on that level.

This one sounds fascinating, Natalie! I may have to check it out.

Natalie- great reflections and I have been careful to use the term "God uses us" since listening to Young the opening night of the conference. I agree with some of the comments here on the difference between the way we use the word "use" and have not used it since regarding God. Trying to find different terms. I have always looked at it positively until now. . . will continue to reflect on this- thanks for your enthusiasm regarding the conference and let's stay connected-
